For far too long, residents of Sangamon Towers have faced challenges that no one should have to accept as a normal part of daily living. Issues involving bed bugs, cockroaches, garbage disposal, cleanliness, security concerns, building upkeep, and even rodents around the property have affected the comfort, dignity, health, and peace of mind of many residents.
The truth is — we live here every day. We see the problems. We experience the frustrations. And we understand how deeply these conditions impact quality of life for seniors, individuals with disabilities, families, caregivers, and visitors alike.
But something important is happening at Sangamon Towers:
Things are beginning to change.
Through persistence, communication, resident involvement, and cooperation with building management, Pacific Management, and security meaningful improvements have already started taking place. Residents have seen increased 24-hour security presence, improved parking lot lighting, and are anticipating the new fencing project that will help provide greater safety, privacy, and protection from loitering and outside disturbances.
These improvements matter — and they are appreciated.
At the same time, we all recognize there is still much work to do.
That is why the Sangamon Guardians were formed.
The Sangamon Guardians are residents standing together to help create a cleaner, safer, healthier, and more dignified living environment for everyone who calls Sangamon Towers home. We believe every resident deserves a voice, deserves respect, and deserves to feel proud of where they live.
Most importantly, we believe there is power in unity.
When residents come together with a shared purpose, real progress becomes possible. By working constructively with management, documenting concerns, proposing solutions, supporting one another, and encouraging community involvement, we can continue building positive momentum and meaningful change throughout our building.
This is not about complaining.
This is about caring.
It is about neighbors helping neighbors.
It is about restoring pride in our community.
It is about creating a healthier and more respectful place to live for current and future residents alike.
The reality is simple:
We can wait for change to happen someday…
or we can become part of the solution today.

Small acts of consideration can make a tremendous difference in the daily lives of our neighbors — especially for seniors, individuals with disabilities, and residents who may already face challenges simply getting through the day.
Something as simple as properly disposing of trash, cleaning up after pets, avoiding damage to common areas, or helping keep shared spaces tidy shows respect for the people who live around us.
Maintenance staff work hard to keep up with the needs of a large building, but they cannot succeed without the cooperation of residents. They are here to maintain the property — not serve as personal housekeeping for preventable messes and neglect.
At the Sangamon Guardians, we believe that pride in our community begins with personal responsibility, kindness, and respect for one another.
None of us can fix everything alone.
